Who is Zamir Stills?
Zamir Stills is an Atlanta-based music composer and songwriter by way of Washington, DC. Always being a passionate fan of a wide range of music, he strings together influences in his works that range across an impressively broad spectrum of genres. No matter the point of inspiration, Stills can display his unique personality in his songs.
Zamir’s M-GROOVE soundtrack album, which was made for the MAX MODE 2025 fighting game tournament, is an exemplary statement of his ethos. He masterfully takes cues from an array of other games’ music and weaves them together with his own unique composition style to create a cohesive celebration of his passions. The following year, he returned for the MAX MODE 2026 soundtrack, which saw him return to his hip-hop roots as both songwriter and vocal performer. Though a different direction from the previous OST, Stills remains true to what drives all his projects forward - his unflinching love and reverence for the music and art that inspire him to create.
In addition to original music, Stills enjoys creating remixes of existing personal favorites. April 2024 saw the release of ZGM, Vol. 1, a cover album Zamir describes as a love letter to his favorite video games and their soundtracks. Stills' remixes of songs from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Guilty Gear" series have particularly been very well received by many of their respective fans. Zamir took the album on the road and performed the songs in DJ sets at shows and conventions across the southeast United States.
In May 2023, Zamir released his first rap EP, Character, which sees him assume the persona, MEANRUSE. The project drew praise from critics and fans alike, likening the lyricism to MF DOOM and the production to Björk. He booked a number of well-received shows to perform the project before having to slow down due to health issues. While the alter ego has been dormant since, Zamir recently announced that MEANRUSE is undergoing a "character arc" and will have more information in the future.
Outside of music, Zamir is known for commentating and competing in fighting games under the moniker, Zohma. As a commentator, he's given a voice to many high-profile events in various games such as “Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising” and “The King of Fighters”. Stills has proven to be a fairly strong competitor as well, earning high placements at a good amount of tournaments across multiple titles.
